About Us

In 1947 a small band of volunteers gathered to form the Torquay and District Ex-Servicemen’s Club. Known locally as the ‘Heroes’, their objective was to look after their mates through the provision of services to veterans and their families.

By the end of the 20 th Century, membership had reduced to a small group of older volunteers who were unable to continue managing the Club and the services it offered to veterans and the local community.

The Torquay RSL Sub-Branch received its charter in 2002.

SUPPORTING VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES

We aim to support veterans and their families through our work.  We connect veterans to services, provide welfare support and counselling, develop social networks and provide practical support.

ADVOCATING FOR VETERANS

We advocate on issues affecting serving and ex-serving ADF members within the Surf Coast district.  We work with RSL VIC and RSL Australia to ensure the rights and benefits of those who have served their country are defended and advocated to governments.

COMMEMORATION & CAMARADERIE

We connect veterans and our broader membership base and encourage camaraderie, mateship, and recreation.  We work within our community to share the stories and history of those who have served.  We commemorate, pay respect, and keep the ANZAC spirit alive.
